Semaglutide for Weight Loss

At Nuview Medspa, we strive to assist clients to be the very best version of themselves, from how they look to how they feel. Improving your overall quality of life is our end goal. To that end, we are now offering Semaglutide injections for weight loss so that you can feel your best and be your healthiest.

What Is Semaglutide?
Science has discovered that the gut may play a large role in preventing weight loss. Fortunately, there is a way to address this barrier with a medication called Semaglutide, a weight loss injection. It’s like a power boost for your weight loss journey.

Semaglutide is a prescription medication for weight management. It is a once-weekly injection that helps with weight loss when used in combination with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Several studies have shown significant weight loss for patients on Semaglutide.

The largest clinical trial showed an average weight loss of 35 pounds (a 14.9% reduction from initial body weight) for people who used Semaglutide. This weight loss is five times greater than what those who relied on diet and exercise alone achieved.

How Does Semaglutide Work?
Semaglutide mimics a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), which is responsible for sending the “I’m full” signal to the brain.
The hormone (and Semaglutide) does this by slowing gastric emptying, which promotes satiety. In other words, it helps you feel full earlier and stay full longer.

Semaglutide also improves glycemic control and insulin sensitivity, helping to promote fat loss while reducing cravings. Semaglutide is administered via a weekly subcutaneous (under the skin) injection. The injection will be given in either the upper arm, stomach, or thigh.

Am I a Candidate for Semaglutide?
Since Semaglutide is a prescription drug, it can only be administered after a consultation to determine eligibility. The consultation will include a review of the candidate’s medical and family history. All candidates are screened for various health conditions that may impact eligibility. Patients with a history of any of the following may not be candidates:

– Diabetes with history of diabetic retinopathy
– Personal or family history of thyroid cancer, multiple endocrine neoplasia 2A or 2B
-Pancreatitis or kidney disease
-Mental health conditions including depression

Additionally, patients who are pregnant, nursing, or plan to become pregnant are not candidates for treatment here at Nuview. If approved for the treatment, your wellness specialist will then discuss scheduling, dosing protocol, and the ideal rotation for the injection sites.

Does Semaglutide Have Side Effects?
Most people tolerate Semaglutide well without significant side effects. The most commonly reported side effects include gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, gas, and feeling bloated. Other side effects include, but are not limited to, fatigue, dizziness, headache, pancreatitis, and heartburn.
